Perhaps more applicable to the IP module than eCommerce, although clearly with a cross-over, news seems to be breaking that SOPA, the "Stop Online Piracy Act" introduced to Congress in the US, is to be withdrawn.
The act was criticised by many in the Internet / communications industry, but was largely supported by the copyright industries; no real surprise on either side, but perhaps does show the strength of feeling on the issue of freedom of speech v. copyright.
SOPA has a sibling, PIPA, the Senate equivalent; this seems to be proceeding still.
